FIFA has confirmed an increase in the financial distribution for key stakeholders ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027. Through the Bureau of the FIFA Council, several decisions that elevate women’s football sustainability were revealed.
“The Bureau of the Council has taken key decisions, which underline FIFA’s steadfast commitment to the development of women’s football globally,” reads a message on the FIFA website.
“The decisions, spanning both club and national-team activities, will collectively elevate women’s football over the coming years, as the inspiring FIFA Women’s Club World Cup™ evolves from concept to reality, sporting success at continental level is robustly rewarded, and key stakeholders benefit from an enhanced financial distribution model for next year’s historic FIFA Women’s World Cup – the first to be staged in South America,” the statement further adds.
While additional details are due to be discussed by the FIFA Council at its next meeting in December 2026 and communicated in due course, the Bureau of the Council has agreed that players, Member Associations and clubs should each benefit from increased financial distributions, as stakeholders work collectively to grow and professionalise women’s football.
Participating Member Associations (PMAs) at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup will receive an increased fee of USD 2.5 million, which is the same amount the men’s teams got for the FIFA World Cup 202.
According to FIFA, these funds will be made available to the Participating Member Associations before December 2026.
Additionally, players participating in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 will enjoy the same service levels as their male counterparts in 2026, and any surplus from the women’s showpiece will be allocated to the Member Associations involved, with a specific amount ring-fenced for players.
Just like it has been for the men, there will be guaranteed player payments, the FIFA Club Benefits Programme, where clubs are paid according to the number of players they have at the tournament and distributions to the national teams taking part in the qualification pathway.
