Princewell Tarabina Biweribo was delighted to finally get off the mark after scoring his first goal for Vipers SC in their 2-0 victory.

The left-footed defender found the back of the net to help the Venoms secure maximum points, ending a difficult spell and restoring confidence within the team.

For Tarabina, the goal was a special moment after working hard and remaining patient while waiting for his maiden strike.

“First of all, I give all the glory to God for the goal. I am very excited to score my first goal for Vipers. Despite the difficult period we have been going through, I am happy that my goal helped us take control of the game,” he said.

The defender admitted that getting his first goal was a huge relief, describing the moment as a reward for his hard work and continued belief.

He was also quick to appreciate the fans for their unwavering support, promising that the players would continue working hard to repay their faith.

“I feel very excited at this moment. It has taken hard work and continued belief. I want to thank the fans for coming out to support Vipers. We promise not to let them down, and as a team, we shall continue doing our best for them,” he added.

Beyond his attacking contribution, Tarabina highlighted the importance of defenders making sacrifices and joining the attack, particularly when the team struggles to find goals.

He believes football requires collective responsibility, with defenders sometimes having to push forward and provide additional numbers in the final third to help unlock stubborn opposition.

“As defenders, sometimes when the team is struggling to score, we have to make sacrifices. We cannot just sit back. We have to push forward, get numbers into the final area and help the team score,” he explained.

The maiden strike will undoubtedly boost Tarabina’s confidence as Vipers seek to build momentum and maintain their ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.
