Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko Football Club smiled to a 2-1 home win against Kenya’s Kariobangi Sharks in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.

Abdul Fatawu Safiu and a penalty from Amos Frimpong inspired the Ghanaian side in a match handled by FIFA Referees from Uganda.

Fatawu gave Asante Kotoko the lead on 17 minutes before Patillah Omotto equalized ten minutes later with a thunderbolt just outside the goal area.

Frimpong’s penalty was awarded in the 38th minute by Mashood Ssali after Yacouba Songne was felled to the ground by Nixon Omondi.

Kariobangi Sharks is home to Ugandan born striker George Abege.

Asanta Kotoko will join the other 15 winners, who will face off against the 15 losers of the CAF Champions League first round.

The Confederation Cup play-off stage draw will be held on December 28, 2018.
