When the 45th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup final kicks off on 25th May 2019 at the Masaka Recreational Stadium, there will be a new champion in the history of this prestigious tournament.
The development follows Bright Stars’ 3-2 post-match penalty victory over record champions Express on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.

Normal time in this return leg of the semi-finals had ended one goal apiece with Express taking the lead through skipper John Revita.
Bright Stars equalized through James Angu 10 minutes to full time to take the match to post-match penalties where they won 3-2.
Farouk Katongole, Rajab Kakooza, and Nelson Ssenkatuka successfully scored Bright Stars’ penalties.
Enock Walusimbi and Angu missed their kicks from the penalty spot.
Left back Sadiq Ssekyembe, midfielder Davis Mayanja and forward Michael Birungi missed for Express with Bright Stars veteran goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge the hero.
Disan Galiwango and John Revita were on target for Express in the tense shoot out.

Fred Kajoba and Paul Kiwanuka’s coached side now book a berth in the final against Proline who eliminated Kyetume 5-4 on post-match penalties following a 3 all aggregate stalemate.
The final on 25th May 2019 in Masaka will be historic in nature since any of the two clubs in the final (Proline and Bright Stars) will smile home with the trophy for the very first time in their history.
