International Build Up Matches:
- Uganda Cranes 2-2 Botosani
- Iceland 1-5 South Korea
Uganda Cranes played to a 2-all draw with Romanian first division club FC Botosani at the Titanic Deluxe Belek Football Center in Turkey during a build-up duel on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga and forward Yunus Junior Sentamu were on target for Uganda Cranes.
Botosani’s two goals were penalties converted by the same player, Fili Realdo.
Byaruhanga scored the opener for Uganda Cranes after 21 minutes.
Realdo got the equalizer seven minutes later.
Sentamu restored Uganda Cranes’ lead with three minutes to the half time recess before a late-late equalizer by Realdo on the stroke of full time.
Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic made 10 changes to the team that held Iceland 1-all.
Only central defender Halid Lwaliwa started against Botosani with wholesome changes to the rest of the team.
KCCA goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan captained the team. Roving right back Innocent Wafula (KCCA) and Police’s Eric Ssenjobe (left footed) were the full backs.

Lwaliwa partnered URA towering defender Najib Fesali in central defence with the reigning Uganda Premier League player of the season Byaruhanga in holding midfield.
KCCA’s Ashraf Mugume, Bright Anukani (Vipers) and Travis Mutyaba (SC Villa) provided the offensive midfield options.
Muhammad Shaban (Onduparaka) and Yunus Sentamu (Vipers) were the two central forwards.
This was the second draw for Uganda Cranes in the lined build up matches.
Against Iceland, Henry Patrick Kaddu leveled the matters with a penalty to cancel out Jón Daði Böðvarsson’s fourth minute header.
Meanwhile, Iceland fell 5-1 to South Korea in the other build up in Belek, Turkey.
South Korea scored through Guesung Cho, Kwon Changhoon, Seungho Paik, Jinggy Kim and Jisung Eom.
Aron Sveinn Guojohnsen pulled back a goal for Iceland to give the score-line a respectable second look.
Uganda Cranes return to action on Tuesday, 18th January 2022 against Moldova at the same venue.
