Uganda-Spain Showcase:
- 1st Build-up match: Atlético Benidorm Club Deportivo 0-1 Uganda Select (Team Fundi)
Uganda’s select football team (Team Fundi) opened the Spain-Uganda showcase journey with a 1-0 win over Benidorm Club de Fútbol at the 6000 Estadio Municipal Guillermo Amor on Sunday in Valencia.
Proline midfielder Hakim Kiwanuka was on target for the Ugandan team, with the assist coming off KCCA’s Julius Poloto.
Kiwanuka stabbed home inside the goal area after an inviting cut back from the right by the industrious Poloto.
Uganda’s team started with Wakiso Giants’ Derrick Emukule in goal.
Soltilo Bright Stars’ Alfred Onek, Derrick Ndahiiro (URA), Eric Ssenjobe (Police) and skipper Enock Walusimbi constituted the back four.
Nicholas Kabonge, Raymond Onyai and Hakim Kiwanuka were the midfield trinity.
Alpha Thierry Ssali and Ivan Ocholit led the quest for goals upfront.

Club de Fútbol La Nucía at the 3000 seater Estadio Camilo Cano in La Nucía town, Valencia on Tuesday, 8th February 2022 at 11:30 a.m.
Head coach Omar Selli, a Turkish national based in Uganda is expected to ring a couple of changes in a bid to grant game time to the squad that traveled for the showcase.
Selli is deputized by former Uganda Cranes international Richard Malinga.
The showcase was organized by Festo Web sports management group in conjuction with the Glassman Group Football International.
The bulk of the financial muscle has come from the Government of Uganda under President Museveni’s vivid support for sports development.
Other partners on board include the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), Ministry of Health, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), Embassy of France in Uganda and others.
