Daniel Rotich and Adero Nyakisi, reigned supreme as they claimed the fourth edition of the Hared Source of the Nile marathon on Sunday on a wet and soggy route at this ever growing athletics event.
Rotich crossed the line in a time of 01.03.19 seconds to claim the men’s 21 kilometer race while Phillip Cherompon was second in a time of 01.03.26 seconds. Phillip Kibet was third finishing in a time of 01.03.35.
This year’s event attracted 2,500 athletes from all over the country with no entrants from Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi.
Adero Nyakisi, returned with a bang after taking a sabbatical by claiming the 21 kilometer race for women in a time of 01.17.24 seconds while Irene Chemusto and Vauis Chemutal finished second and third respectively with times of 01.19.18 and 01.20.49 seconds.
Roofings claimed their third consecutive Corporate event title in four years thus donating their 1.5 million shillings to the spire school of blind in Jinja. City Tyres entered the biggest number of corporate teams totalling ten.
