
Africa’s top badminton player Edwin Ekiring has the task of breaking into world’s top 100 to guarantee himself a passage to play at next year’s summer Olympics in London.
“The system of qualification to the Olympics is totally different for the case of Badminton,” Simon Mugabi, the player’s coach said. “He has to continue playing several tournaments on the circuit to enable him qualify to the games
and at the same time break into the top 100 in the world.”
Ekiring is ranked number 115 in the world and recently lost in the Bitburger Open in Saarbrucken, Germany. He has switched his focus to the Norwegian International set for November 17-20 in Oslo, Norway. He is also scheduled to play in the Botswana International from November 25-27,South Africa International from December 1-4,Ireland Interntional from Dec 8-11 and Turkey International from December 19-22.
