
The 2012 FUBA League entered its third weekend on Friday with Kyambogo Warriors playing Ndejje University Angels. Norman Blick scored 13 of his game high 26 points in the first quarter as Warriors torched Ndejje University Angels 115-50 on Friday night at YMCA.
The guard had a hot shooting night going 3-for-3 beyond the arc and 2-for-2 on field goals during
the period. Ivan Enabu scored 10 of his season high 20 points including all his 7 free throws in the quarter as Warriors pulled away to a double digit lead to the end of the game. “I did not expect us to lose to warriors by this margin” said a disappointed Obed Walker, the Angels coach.
Sam Gombya’s great start to the season continued as he posted 21 points and 8 rebounds in the blowout victory. Brian Gumisiriza chipped in with 19 points for Warriors (3-0). Donald Blick (11 points) was back on the team after sitting out the first two games and Steven Okias was also back on the team after sitting out against Rez Life. Eric Malinga sat out for a second straight game due to injury. Geofrey Solo led Ndejje with 23 points and picked up 10 rebounds. “We have got a good team but don’t have the right mind set to win games” Obed farther said. Chris Biko added 12 points for Angels (1-2).
A depleted Miracle side suffered its third straight loss after falling to Falcon 80-67. The 2012 Heaters is a total contrast of itself that we saw last season, not much by the roster but the performance. Heaters won their third straight game, one more than the total won last season after beating Vegeterian 70-66 on Sunday afternoon. The loss saw Vegeterian slip for the third time this season.
In the women’s division A1 Challenge beat KIU Rangers 66-52 on Friday evening while Martha Soigi’s 21 points and 12 rebounds paced KCC Leopards to an 83-16 blow-out victory over Crane High Ladies. MUK Sparks edged Nabisunsa 61-59 off Winnie Anyango’s season high 29 points and 10 rebounds while Ruth Nakitto’s 21 points were in a losing effort for Nabisunsa. Nkumba Lady Marines beat MUK Cubs 47-24 for their first win of the league.
The league resumes on Sunday after the annual regional intercity tournament that will come to the climax om Saturday.
