The second edition of the East Africa Elite Cricket Premier League gets underway today at three different ovals in Uganda and Kenya.
The latter, just like the previous edition presented four of the
six participating sides.
Ugandan franchises Knights and Warriors face off this afternoon at the lakeside Oval in Entebbe, a repeat of the inuagral tourney’s final.
Knights, the title holders captained by national team skipper Davis Karashani hope to replicate last year’s form against th Warriors who attained Kenyan Steven Tikolo as coach.
His aim is to outclass his native sides in the round robin tournament.
“I want to upset the Kenyans,” Tikolo told SuperSport’s Innocent Ndawula.
Tikolo was also hired as batting coach for the national side.
The two sides will play the 20-over version of the game today and a 50-over version of the East Africa Cup tomorrow.
Despite the new recruits Daniel Batuwa (Mwiri CC) and Emmanuel Taban, the Lawrence Sematimba-led side will work less Martin Ondeko for the next three weeks.
