
When club secretary Haruna Kyobe took the convening crowd through Bunamwaya’s 43-year rich history, one would wonder why the club opted to surrender the name that the club achieved so much. However, Vipers SC is one name the Buikwe community embraced immediately now that they feel the personal attachment to a club they felt so hard to support as Bunamwaya.
Vipers as they will from now be called, was launched on Sunday in Buikwe, and the team logo unveiled immediately. Asked why the name, Kyobe told Kawowo sports how they want to be venomous like the Viper as the clubs stats a new error.
“Just like the Viper and its dangerous poison, we plan to have the same kind of treatment toward our opponents from now on.” “Especially in Buikwe here where we plan to have our roots as we venture into the world to build a formidable fan base,” he said.
Bunamwaya was started 43 years back, has collapsed on three occasions before taking big strides to the top flight in 2005. Won the league title league three seasons later under Edward Golola, and that’s the clubs only silver ware.

Close to 5000, fans were registered as the club’s fans base was launched in Buikwe and urged to have a standing executive within a month’s period. The exercise went on even in the dark, as locals in Buikwe did not want to miss the chance to exercise their rights when the voting comes around.
