Fri: 1st/05/2012, Mandela stadium Namboole – 4.30pm
Title chasing Bunamwaya SC pay a courtesy visit to Namboole stadium to play Police FC in a league game on Friday afternoon knowing that only victory will give them hope for a second league title in the club’s history.
They will however find a mountain difficult to climb against a Police FC side that has looked rejuvenated under Sam Timbe. The cops have not lost a game since the gaffers’ appointment at the helm winning and drawing three out of six league games he has been in charge including holding URA FC and Proline FC to a 1 all draw and barren draw respectively.
Sam Timbe will bank on the experience of his defensive workhorses Ssevume Siraje, Kayondo William and David Iga to stop Bunamwaya’s super forwards. Nanik Muzamir is expected to patrol the midfield with Jimmy Kakembo (9 goals in the league) and Olobo Bruno in the hunt for goals. Bunamwaya SC must also avoid giving away fouls on the edge of the area as Sula Lwanga’s dead ball expertise may be put to use.
Coach Edward Golola will miss the services of left back Godfrey Walusimbi who is on national duty but the soft spoken coach a big squad to select his replacement from. Skipper Robert Kimuli is expected in the midfield along side Hakim Ssenkumba with Odur Tonny, Muwanga Martin and Ceaser Okhuti searching for goals. Jacob Otunga who had a brilliant game against Hoima-Busia netting once and assisting the rest in the 4-0 triumph over the Eastern Uganda side may retain his starting berth forcing one of the strikers to start on the bench.
Police FC are fourth from bottom on the 16 team log on 30 points and are yet to survive relegation while Bunamwaya SC are third on 50 points and a win coupled with URA FC loss at the hands of Simba SC will mean the Wakiso based side close the gap to just a point of leaders in second place.
