URA FC double dream still alive after cup glory

After beating Bunamwaya SC 1-0 in the Pece finals to lift the Bell Uganda Cup, URA FC now shifts focus to league success. Robert Ssentongo’s 3rd minute strike earned Alex Isabirye his first Cup and the club’s second in history. With the tax collectors seated on top of the super league table with 47 points with six games to go, the club are on the road to winning their first league and cup double.

In a post match interview with Kawowo sports, Coach Alex Isabirye said, “Our focus now shifts to the league. Its the reason you see boys are not much taken up by the win since they know the big task and dream lies ahead. We want a double”. Skipper Manko Kawesa who missed the finals due to injury also echoed the same, “Its nice winning this final especially against rivals Bunamwaya SC who are our major competitors in the league. I hope it becomes a psychological blow to them and we win a double”.

Speaking to Bunamwaya’s right back Wadada Nicholas on what impact the loss will have on who takes the league, he stated “I don’t think it will affect us but being table leaders in the league, its in their hands now. We’ll try to win all our remaining fixtures and pray they slip up. We host them in Buikwe in the league and i hope that will be a decider we must win”.
