Uganda Martyrs progressed to the semifinals of this year’s FUFA Women’s Cup after eliminating holders Makerere University on Sunday.
A 2-1 win at Makerere Ground was enough to send Uganda Martyrs through to the last four.
It should be noted that the two teams faced off in the league at the same venue last week and Makerere University was able to win 2-1.
Therefore, today’s clash offered Uganda Martyrs the opportunity to revenge for the league defeat.
Catherine Nagadya and Latifah Nakasi scored a goal each for the Kiddawalime Girls while Daphine Nalubowa got the consolation for the University team.
Uganda Martyrs will face Kawempe Muslim in the semifinals. The latter obliterated Kampala Queens with a 5-1 win in Kabojja.
The other semifinal will see Asubo Gafford Ladies take on She Maroons.
Gafford who played in the inaugural final back in 2017 ejected St. Noa 4-3 on penalties after normal time ended goalless.
On the other hand She Maroon beat inaugural winners Olila High School 2-1 to reach the semifinals.
The semifinals are played on a home-and-away basis and FUFA will confirm the dates for the fixtures.
