
Nkumba University retained top spot in the women’s National Super League after edging UPDF 26-24 in a top table thriller at Luzira Prison grounds on Saturday. Jane Namuwaya scored eight goals while fellow Nkumba teammates, Carol Alupo and Prossie Namugerwa bagged five each as the side moved to nine points from five games. UPDF’s Jane Namukasa had nine goals to her name but only left her side on four points from three games.
In the other women’s game, had Prsion Lady Spears over coming Police in with a 29 – 21 score. Moses Akena scored seven goals while teammates, Medi Kasenge and Carl Mugalu added six goals each that gave UPDF a 31-19 triumph over Metro Prison Arrows. Just like Nkumba in the ladies’ category, UPDF remained top on 14 points in seven games.
Second placed Prison Spears had rather an easy run in what looked like a one sided game with Ibrahim Kongo dismantling the Nkumba University defence and scoring 12 goals.
