Great Kiprotich and Team Uganda arrive home tomorrow

Led by Chef de mission Dennis Galabuzi and team captain swimmer Ganzi Mugula, Team Uganda travelled to London for the XXX Olympiad Games with an aim to end a 16-year medal haul. And they left the Games Olympic Village this evening, heading to Heathrow Airport for a flight aboard British Airways back home. The contingent will arrive at Entebbe Airport tomorrow morning at 7:30 am.
And the main source of attraction will be golden boy Stephen Kiprotich, who many think took the world by storm enroute winning the 42.625km marathon in 2:08:01 at The Mall on Sunday. He made the organisers play our country’s national anthem at the event’s closing ceremony when the whole world was glued onto their screens. That sense of national pride will give the best reception that our returning contingents have received in years.
He will have a dinner with the president H.E Y.K Museveni at the State House in Entebbe. Kiprotich will meet the Parliamentarians on Thursday afternoon. It was a long struggle to be one of the countries with a podium finish at the Games after debacles in Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
Welcome home Hero, Legend, Star Kiprotich and Team Uganda in general.
