MTN Heathens trounced Buffaloes to win this year’s Makerere 10s title at the ‘graveyard’ on Sunday. They powered a 31-5 victory to return to glory since 2009. Asuman Mugerwa (2), Michael Wokorach and Jonathan Onen got the tries the crown while Benon Kiiza (2) and Chris Lubanga made the conversions.
Buffaloes’ only try came from Pearson Okia. It had tied the game at 5-5, causing the loudest cheers from the scattered crowd. The day ended poorly after the sight of youngster Julius Ceasre lying stationary on the ground.
Ceasre, a Boks player, suffered a neck injury in the Plate Final which his side narrowly lost 12-10 to Summerkamp. Boks is DMark Kobs’ feeder side and had taken the slot of their seniors.
Medics frantically attended to him before he was rushed away for further attention in an ambulance labeled “St. Catherine’s Clinic”.
