Team Uganda will have to raise shillings 23.5 million($9,000) if they are to take part in the Saint Lucia Squash Open Championship that is slated from June 24-29 in Barbados.
According to an invitation sent to Uganda Squash Rackets Assocciation local organisers of the event have invited three Ugandan players who include Squash player of the year 2012 Michael Kawooya,Ian Rukunya Kajubu and Paul Kadoma.
“The organisers are offering us free accomodation without meals so we have to look for thew rest that includes tickets to and fro,” a worried Kawooya said. “At the moment we are looking for corporate sponsors to help us reach our targets.”
Last year the Saint Lucia Squash Association sent out an invitation to Uganda, but Kawooya and Kajubu failed to travel after failing to raise the necessary funds.
