UCU Lady Canons secured a hard-fought 46-42 victory against JT Lady Jaguars in the 2024 National Basketball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Friday.
Nicholas Natuhereza’s troops continued with a brilliant start to the campaign registering the fourth victory in five games played thus far.
It was a closely contested game where both sides staged a zone difference limiting penetration into the paint but the Mukono-based side came out of the blazing kiln victorious.
JT Lady Jaguars started well creating a five-point lead (15-10) at the end of the first period.Â

The Lady Canons greatly improved in the second quarter improving on their aggression and speed on the court with five more points than those registered in the first.
At half-time, the Lady Jaguars dug deep to ensure that they entered the locker rooms with a narrow two-point lead (27-25).
Sarah Ageno’s three-pointer extended the Lady Jaguars’ lead to five but Aziida Nabayunga responded to level matters 30-30 with 08:39 to play. But at the end of the period, the Lady Jaguars were trailing by six (40-34).
It was a dull final quarter of the game where none of the teams managed to score more than 10 points. However, the Lady Canons held their nerves to secure a four-point victory.

Aziida Nabayunga led the scoring chart with 15 points while Sylvia Nantongo added 10 points as the only two players to manage a dropping a double.
Mercy Batamuliza was massive in the paint for the lady Jaguars pulling down a game-high 24 rebounds to go with 10 points.
