Overview:
Gorreth Nalubega, the head of sports at Aga Khan Primary School confidently backs the decision of bringing the skating sport to the school; offering pupils options to engage in sports.
Skating Club of Kampala demonstrated the game to enthusiastic pupils and teachers of Aga Khan Primary School under the program school skating and skating beyond streets.

They intend to traverse to the rest of the schools in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Jinja and elsewhere.
The founder of Skating Club of Kampala Vincent Reagan Lumala asserts that they are targeting the young blood to this interesting Olympic sport to ensure continuity.

“Skating Club of Kampala is demonstrating Skating to young pupils at Aga Khan Primary School. We want to re-shape the sport of skating and redirect the younger generation. That is why we are into schools under the program school skating program. We shall spread to other schools as well.” Noted Lumala.
“We’re trying to recruit new skaters into the program and we’re focusing on those younger people to get to know how to do skating at national and international level. And today, we have been teaching them how to use the safety gears and learn more about the sport. Basically we’re trying to redirect the younger generation because most people outside there think skating is not a sport, it’s just for streets, so we are trying to focus on the younger ones.
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Skating Beyond Streets campaign, kicked off on February 22, 2024, at Aga Khan Elementary School on the theme “Safely is Our Priority”. Huge thanks to the school management for their invaluable support in redirecting young people towards the sport of skating and reshaping its image in Uganda.
Our mission is clear: to create awareness about skating in Uganda and provide opportunities for children and youth to engage in this exciting sport. Through our School Skating Projects, we’re taking the campaign directly to local schools, offering skating lessons and events at no cost to participants.” He added.

Gorreth Nalubega, the head of sports at Aga Khan Primary School confidently backs the decision of bringing the skating sport to the school; offering pupils options to engage in sports.
“We invited the people from Skating Club of Kampala so that the pupils can get another sport they can join. So, we called them to do a demonstration to the kids and at the end of the day, kids loved it and the teachers.” Nalubega remarked.

“It is a good sport and since we are in the road safety week, so we called them to teach the kids about the road safety and how to dodge those challenges on the road. Yes of course, we shall carry on with it because the kids loved it and I hope, next term, we shall have many kids in the Skating Club.” She added.
Joy Tendo, a primary four pupil who expressed interest in the sport speaks highly of her new found love.
“I chose to be a skater because I saw people who do it, look professional, so my dream is to be a skater and a professional one” Tendo testified.

The game of skating is held in sports parks, open spaces and specially designed skating confines.
