2024 Kitala Ward Football & Netball tournament:

City lawyer, businessman-cum-politician Stephen Ssekigozi is a typical jack of all trades.
Ssekigozi is very concerned by the development of sports from the grassroots level.
Officiating during the official opening of the 2024 Kitala Ward football and netball tournament at Mpala church playground, Ssekigozi hinted that such championships help in boosting local talent development.
“The development of raw talents from the grassroots for sports personalities in Uganda is key to boosting local talent development.” Ssekigozi remarked.
“As a person, i look forward helping the boosting of talents in Kitala ward with support to the Kitala ward football and netball tournament” he added.
The opening match of the 2024 Kitala ward football and netball tournament was played at the Mpala Catholic parish playground before a handful of fans, local leaders and the chief guest, Ssekigozi.
The contest between Mazowezo and Mumbejja ended all square; in a goal-less stalemate.
According to the tournament local organizing committee chairperson, Ronald Lutaaya, this tournament has 9 teams competiting in the three villages of Mpala, Lyamutundwe and Kitala.
“The 2024 Kitala ward football and netball tournament accomodates non-Fufa licensed players. The teams come from three villages of Mpala, Lyamutundwe and Kitala. Football has 9 teams divided into three groups of three teams each. The finals will be played on Easter Day” Lutaaya remarked.
Joel Makanga, a councillor from Lyamutundwe calls upon the local residents to come and support this tournament.
The different playgrounds in Kitala ward as Nkumba Kataka playground, Mpala parish catholic church playground, Kanywa (Garuga) and others are being used to host the matches.
The winner will take a trophy, gold-medals and a bull. The runners take shall be given silver medals and a goat.
