Buddo SS remained on the right course to reclaim their crown after overcoming Kisozi Seed SS at the Round of 32 of the ongoing USSSA Boys Football Championship in Lira City.

Before the start of the game, a moment of silence was observed in memory of Maxine Modesta Anyango, a St. Noa student and basketball player who died on Thursday.

An own goal by John Bosco Ssembuusi, coupled with goals from Aaron Okello and substitute Hillary Tumwine, ensured the reigning Champions secured a 3-0 win to progress to the next stage.

Ssembusi’s own goal gave Buddo the lead midway through the first half, finishing from close range, while Okello doubled the lead in the second half off a deflection by Ssembusi, who had a day to forget.

Towards the end of the game, Tumwine put the icing on the cake with a powerful finish to seal victory for Buddo SS.

At the Round of 16, Buddo SS will face Kawempe Muslim, who defeated Kicwamba High School 2-0 in the other Round of 32 encounter.

All Round of 16 games will be played on Saturday across different grounds in Lira City.
