Falcons 78-87 DMark Power
A1 Challenge 37-64 UCU Lady Canons
Norman Blick scored 12 of his team high 17 points including a pair of big 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to lead Dmark Power to an 87-78 win over Falcons Friday night at the MTN Arena.
Falcons (4-2) took the opening quarter 17-11 and were edged 19-18 in the second. In the second half both teams executed and took small leads but none could sustain the lead until mid fourth quarter. With the game tied at 66, 6:10 to the final buzzer, Blick nailed a go-ahead Death Valley shot to take Power up 69-66. It didn’t look that much but Power (6-0) never trailed again as Michael Kojo’s tip-in and freebie extended Power’s lead before Blick added another rain maker with 4:14 to push the lead to 75-68. Emmanuel Enabu added a pull up jumper to extend power’s lead to 9 but two close range shots from Steven Omony and Serge Kabangu pulled falcons within 5 (72-77) with 2:14 and was the closest they did.
Steven Omony did everything for Falcons but in a losing effort. The forward poured in game and season high 28 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and swiped 3 steals. Peter Elungant fouled out with 4:27 in the fourth quarter but had contributed 14 points. Abdulahi Ramadhan chipped with 13 points. In Philip Ameny’s absence (personal reasons), Serge Kabangu nearly got the job done. The big man scored 10 points and picked 10 rebounds.
Five other Power players scored in double figures. Isaac Afidra (13 points, 9 rebounds), Paul Odong (13 points), David Kiberu (12 points, 9 rebounds), Paul Mwaka (11 points, 8 rebounds) and Michael Kojo had 10.
Meanwhile, point guard, Angela Namirimu knocked down five 3-ball for game high 15 points to lead UCU Lady Canons to a 64-37 win over A1 Challenge. Purity Adhiambo added 10 points and 12 rebounds while Peace Proscovia contributed 7 points and 15 rebounds as Lady Canons advanced to 5-0. Challenge (1-5) were down by 7 points at halftime but ambled slowly into the third missing the opening four mostly easy field goal attempts as Lady Canons pulled away to open up a big lead. Liz Bazira had team high 10 points for A1. Vickie Ntale, Dorothy Kyamazima and Barbara Okot scored 7 points apiece.
