Despite a low profile transfer period locally due to uncertainties in administration and running of the national league, several clubs are trying to strengthen in all departments by signing new players as Kawowo Sports’ Edgar Kazibwe reports;
Hashim Ssempala is still stuck in a tricky situation regarding his move to URA FC. His Club, BIDCO have strongly warned that they still have a contract with him, adding that his attempted move to the tax collectors was without their consent. Reports however indicate that URA FC will spend an estimated Ush 25m if they are to sign Ssempala.
BIDCO FC have finally released striker Moustafa Kasolo to join Kenyan side Sofapaka FC. He becomes the third Ugandan at the club joining Julius Ssenoga and newly acquired Johnson Bagoole.
URA FC are in advanced negotiations to sign midfielder Martin Kivumbi from BIDCO FC. The former Masaka LC player is also on the radar of KCC FC and SC Victoria University.
Kiira Young midfielder Patrick Ssenfuka is close to returning to former side KCC FC. The midfielder who has also played for SC Villa was part of the 2007/8 title winning side under George Nsimbe who is also at Lugogo at the moment.
Right full back Johnson Lumansi of Masaka LC FC has attracted interests from former Champions URA FC. However, information from the Buddu based club indicates that the player is not for sale at any price.
SC Villa duo Benjamin Ochan and Isaac Muleme have completed and passed Medicals at Uganda Cup winners SC Victoria University and they are not far from penning deals at the club.
KCC FC and Simba FC have expressed interest in signing left fullback Augustine Walusimbi from Masaka LC FC. The defender is a free agent but his bosses at Masaka are keen on keeping him at the club.
Free agent Joseph Kasekende is on the verge of signing for newly promoted super league club Soana FC after his contract with Masaka LC expired at the end of the season.
