African Netball Challenge Championships

Uganda 72-45 Namibia

Uganda Netball team put behind their domestic woes and fatigue to register yet another convincing 72-45 victory over Southern Africa opposition Namibia at the Malawi College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre. The victory come after the opening team’s outstanding performance on Tuesday over Swaziland in the 69-38 win at the same complex.
The team’s sharp shooters, Peace Proscovia a.k.a ‘Warid” and Cissy Nalubega combined to demolish the Namibians in a match watched by a capacity cheering crowd.
The Ugandan team, who had a torrid time to prepare for the games and had to travel a grueling over 1765 kilometres from Kampala to the Malawian town of Blantyre, defied all the odds as they continue to silence critics with awesome performances.

“I know the potential of my girls, we shall perform as expected”, vowed, the team manager, Jocylne Uchanda, prior the 4 day’s team journey.

The Ugandan team, which risked missing the week long championships will battle Africa’s second best team, South Africa on Thursday. The winner of the tourney qualifies to the Common Wealth games.
15 African nations including South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Namibia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Sychelles, Tanzania, Bostwana, Namibia , Swaziland, Uganda and Malawi, the hosts and defending champions are participating in the meet.
