FIVB volleyball’s governing body’s May Alaa has expressed satisfaction with preparations of the FIVB Kampala Beach Open due next month.

The Egyptian official expressed reasonable satisfaction with ongoing preparations by promoter Eddie Okila and House of Talent recently.

“I am pleased with your hotel standards and location of competition venue. I must say that the service I got from the hotel the time I stayed there was perfect” said the FIVB inspector.

Alaa visited Hotel African- the venue for the international athletes, Golf course hotel- venue for international referees and FIVB officials, held meetings with ministry of education and sports, Kampala capital city authority, Uganda Volleyball Federation, Local organizing committee and toured the venue at UMA auxiliary parking in Lugogo before concluding her two day visit.

She however noted that construction works at the venue needed to be speeded up to allow for ample rehearsals for all the volunteers since Uganda is hosting a top event for the first time.

“The grounds are still a minus but I am optimistic after the meeting with the promoter that works shall be finished in time” she said.

The FIVB Kampala Beach Volleyball Event is the first of its kind in Africa and has already attracted 24 countries from around the world.

Promoter Eddie Okila noted, “We are happy to have passed the first step that has been holding back most of our implementation plans. With the inspection concluded, we are now rolling out our final phase of implementation in readiness of the September 24-29 world event”.

“We are still calling upon more locally based companies to join this historic event in Africa so that we can together take our country Uganda high at the international scene after Stephen Kiprotich’s wondrous performance in Moscow” he added.

The FIVB KAMPALA BEACH OPEN is expected to have a TV viewership of 729 million people around the world which shall arguably be a huge international awareness for the country.
