Kids of Africa Race

At Bwerenga, 5 km off Kawuku, along Kampala-Entebbe Highway

Roko Construction Limited has contributed Ug.shs .50M towards the successful running of the 2013 Kids of Africa Race slated for the 6th October starting at Bwerenga, 5km off Kawuku, situated along the Kampala-Entebbe Highway.

“There is a genuine cause for Roko to take part in this race, our contribution is running for the second year in a year”, said Diana Nyakato, the legal and Human Resource Manager, Roko Construction.

Speaking before a media briefing at Sheraton Kampala Hotel, Kids of Africa director, Tage Budolfsen said the main proceeds from the race will go towards the construction of a class room building.

“We target at least Ug Shs 100 Million to help us construct a school for the now 93 disadvantaged children at the centre”, the Swiss remarked.

 Jason Edwards, the race director assured the participants of secure routes, abundant water before, during and after the race and the presence of some elite athletes especially in the main event, the 21 Km race.

The event was witnessed by Robert Ssesanga Ssekimpi, the Beverage selling Opportunity manager on behalf of Rwenzori Bottling Company, who have donated 100 cartons of fresh mineral water.

The United Nations (UN), one of the event sponsors has offered Ug Shs. 10 million in cash.

About the Kids of Africa Race:

Charity Race in Bwerenga off Entebbe Road in which over 600 athletes are expected to be part.

There will be 5km, 10km and 21km races, with age categories: Under 10 (5km only), 10-14, 15-18, 19-49, 50+. Participants should meet at 6:30am to collect their event T-shirts and race numbers. The 21km will start at 7:30am sharp; the 10km race at 7:55am and the 5km at 8:15am. The courses are set in Wakiso District between Kampala and Entebbe on the shores of Lake Victoria. As well as being challenging, the routes take runners through local countryside, villages and have great views over Lake Victoria.

 PRIZES

 The first three male and female finishers in each age category will receive medals. There will also be cash prizes in all age categories, male and female, in all 3 races.

 REGISTRATION CENTERS AND FEES

 The registration fee is: UGX 10,000 for individuals. Late registration at the venue can be done on the event day at 25,00/=.
