KIU Titans levelled the semifinal series after edging Namuwongo Blazers 81-77 in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

After an end-to-end opening period, KIU Titans opened a four-point (20-16) lead as the crowd was set to a fine tune.

Before going into the long break, the Titans limited the Blazers to only 17 points as they dropped 23, thus opening a 10-point (43-33) lead.

Coming from the locker rooms, the Titans were ruthless as they opened a 21-point lead against the flameless Blazers at the end of the third stanza.

In the final period, the Blazers attempted a massive comeback, but the Titans hung on to secure a four-point victory.

Peter Obleng (19 points), Tembo Kasereka (16 points), and Joel Lokoji (13 points) led KIU Titans’ scoring board.

On the other hand, Innocent Ochera (25 points), Jimmy Williams (21 points), and Joseph Chuma (11 points) scored double digits for the Blazers.

The Blazers were great under the hoops, pulling down 17 more rebounds than the Titans. The Blazers were so poor beyond the arc, converting only six shots out of 31 attempts.

The two sides will meet in game three on Tuesday, August 20, at the same place.
