The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has officially ignited the countdown to the third window of the FIBA Africa World Cup Qualifiers.
In a press release issued today, national team management unveiled a formidable 12-man Silverbacks roster primed for the continental basketball battleground.
To ensure peak physical conditioning and tactical cohesion, Head Coach Mandy Juruni will lead a gruelling residential training camp in Kigali, Rwanda. The delegation is scheduled to fly out on June 20, 2026, anchoring their operations in Kigali until June 30.
This critical ten-day window will allow the coaching staff to refine defensive sets, install offensive variations, and maximise team chemistry before diving straight into the fire in Luanda, Angola.
The stakes could not be higher for Ugandan basketball. Immediately following the conclusion of the intensive Kigali camp, the Silverbacks will fly directly to the Angolan capital.
The team is scheduled to compete in the FIBA Africa World Cup Qualifiers from July 2 to July 5, 2026. Facing Africa’s elite physical powerhouses, the Silverbacks have structured their preparation specifically to match the sheer intensity and breakneck pace expected in Luanda.
“This window demands absolute focus. The ten days in Kigali will be instrumental in fine-tuning our execution. We have a group that understands the magnitude of representing Uganda on this stage, and the preparation will reflect that.”
Coach Juruni’s selection strikes a precise balance between raw perimeter speed and interior structural size.
The backcourt will be orchestrated by explosive point guards Nike Sibande Dejur Jr and Fayed Baale, alongside the tactical depth of Edrine Ekau.
On the wings, the Silverbacks boast lethal perimeter scoring and lockdown defensive length through Robinson Odoch Opong , Marvin Musiime-Kamali , and Blessed Phillip Mbogo.
Recognising the bruising physical play typical of Angolan hardcourts, the frontcourt selection emphasises length and rebounding versatility.
Small forwards Peter Obleng , Deng Geu John, and Emmanuel Womala offer flexible, positionless utility.
Meanwhile, the interior paint will be fiercely guarded by a trio of imposing forwards and centres: Jonathan Komagum, Titus Lual Odeke and the towering Joel Paul Kayiira.
