It was the usual excitement, hype, thrills and definitely the goals that defined week 11 of the Pepsi national beach Soccer league at Entebbe based Lido beach resort on Sunday evening.

An amazing total of 79 strikes were recorded in 10 fixtures of both the men and women leagues.

“The beauty of beach soccer is that you will always expect a dribble here, a flick and a goal there. You are never bored”, Ali Mwebe, an official attached to Uganda Beach Soccer Association said.

32 goals blasted the net in the men’s Moonson group, 9 better than the Hurriken group though the latter had a fixture – Makerere University vs Buwanika Bulls not honored because the Makerere did not present any reason for their absence.

Mathias Kigonya, a goal keeper in the FUFA Super league (with Soana) netted the highest individual score (6) during Stormers’ 8 – 1 humilitation of Richmond Strikers. Team mate, Ibra Mpengere added a brace to cap a miserable evening for the strikers whose consolation came off the feet of Joseph Nyenge.

Ismail Kagingo was another star performer as the burly Kampala International University (KIU) forward got all the 5 goals during his team’s 5 -4 victory over a hard fighting Kabalagala Rangers.

Nasser Nsubuga, Sulaiman Lutaaya and a brace from Alex Sserunjogi netted Kabalagala Rangers’s goals in a thrilling and action packed encounter.

There were also hat tricks for MUBS’ Brian Nkuubi and Hurriken group leaders’ Nkumba Select towering forward – Rock Somoka.

In the ladies league matches played 24 goals rained in the 3 fixtures held. Doves’ Tina Nambirigge notched 6 goals (4 against Mutes 1 and a brace against She Corporate team).

Pepsi bankrolls the beach soccer league which is exclusively organised by Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) under the supervision of Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
