Ugandan veteran rally ace Charles Muhangi dropped out of the Rally Bamdama in Cote d’Ivoire after blowing his engine on day two on Saturday.

The 1999 Africa Rally championship (ARC) winner who had finished day one in 17th position after clocking 3.10 in the Super Special Stage joined fellow ARC contender Jaspreet Singh Chatthe and Gugu Panesar who damaged their suspension.

Morifere Soumaoro took the lead of the rally by27.5 seconds at the end of Leg 1B from Gary Chaynes both from Ivory Coast.

The duo however is not in the running for the ARC title since they are not registered according to ARC.

However, in another application to Stewards FISA submitted evidence to the Stewards that their two drivers Morifere Soumaoro and Gary Chaynes’ ARC registration was submitted to the FIA on 27th February 2014 which the ARC Secretariat was not aware of. Thus Stewards ruled they are ARC registered.
