Total Energies Uganda, the title sponsor of the CHAN 2024 has supported the journalists’ football teams in Bunyoro, Acholi and Alur with sets of jerseys and footballs.

The journalists’ football teams from Bunyoro are; Hoima Media Association (HMA) and Greater Masindi Media Practitioners (GMEP), Acholi; Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC) and Alur;  Nebbi Zombo Pakwach Media Association (NEZOMA).

The Corporate Affairs Manager, Total Energies Uganda, Anita Kayongo has implored the journalists to embrace sports to keep physically and mentally healthy as they perform their task for development of the country.

The four teams received 14 sets of jerseys and two footballs each on Friday 13th December at Global Village Resort, Pakwach district.

The four teams played spectacular corporate games in which NUMEC emerged Champion and GMEP came second.

 Kayongo assured the journalists ensure the items are used by the association so that football also can unite the members

Sunday Ivan Tolit, the Northern Uganda Media Club captain hailed the support from Total Energies and called for support from other corporate Companies to emulate Total for supporting media Sports Clubs.

“We have several sports talents among the journalists, but we lack support for having established media sports Clubs in Uganda ” Tolit remarked.

Patrick Okaba, the Club captain for NEZOPA, has expressed disappointment about the errant members who sold off the jerseys which were given by Total Energies in the previous years.

He accused one of their members only identified as Fred, for arrogantly selling the set of jerseys assuring that plans are underway to bring the errant member to face the disciplinary committee.

Lee Ofoyrwoth, a journalist working for Christ The King FM in Nebbi district, says journalists have a lot of talents amongst them but they lack partnerships to push them to greater levels.

Ofoyrwoth says partners and corporate organizations should support the media football clubs.
