Ex-Express FC and SC Villa striker Maurice Sunguti has declared his intentions to take over the Team Manager’s job at AFC Leopards.
The position fell vacant on Thursday after team manager Francis Xavier was sacked together with Coach James Nandwa and assistant coach Mickey Weche.
Speaking to futaa.com, the legendary striker; a former player at AFC Leopards says he wants to serve the club and would wish to return the glory days.
“I was part of the team in 1997 and when they last won the league in 1998. Sometimes you want to return and give back to the club you played for at some point,” Sunguti told futaa.com. “I will not turn down the role of team manager, I’d wish to help the team return to its glory days, he added.
Sunguti adds that it’s unfortunate the results have failed to come despite the cream of players at the club but believes they have the ability to recover from the bad patch.
“It is unfortunate that results have not been going the team’s way in recent games. Leopards has one of the best set of players in the league and I believe they will rise from their bad patch soon,” Sunguti asserts.
Besides, AFC, SC Villa and Express FC, the ex-Harambee Stars striker also featured for Friska Viljor in Sweden, Dam Dinh in Vietnam and Yanga in Tanzania. He is the proprietor of the Sokyimau soccer Academy which toured Uganda in December last year and played games against Proline FC and Edgars Youth Academies.
