FSL week 28 results:

KCC 1 – 1 URA

Police 2 – 3 SCVU

Express  1 – 0 Masaka

Bright Stars 1 – 1 Entebbe

Kira Young  0 – 1 Simba

CRO 0 – 2 S.C Villa

The biggest question that emanated from the many hearts of football fans through to their lips as they left the KCC – URA 1 all result at Lugogo on Tuesday evening was how KCC striker, Herman Wasswa has continued to be snubbed for national team duty by the technical committee.

The debate was once again brought to life on the eve of the day, the Uganda National team coach, Micho and his technical committee is set to announce the list of players available for training and selection during the entire AFCON 2015 qualification campaign.

An on song Wasswa notched the opener as KCC played to a one all draw with Uganda Revenue Authority football club. Wasswa has now scored 7 goals for KCC in his last 10 games for the club.

URA’s Nigerian import, Emmanuel Engama made sure URA picks atleast a point from the fixture to keep their title hopes alive.

URA has now played 28 games rising 50 points, 3 below joint leaders, KCCA and Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU).

CRO Confirmed relegated:

Mbale based side, Child’s Restoration Organization (CRO) were beaten at home by 16 time league champions, SC Villa to become the first  side in the league to virtually get relegated to the country’s second highest tier football league, the FUFA big league.

Former KCC winger cum striker, Titus Lubega and the on form Nigerian import, Victor Emenayo, a mid season acquistion for Villa from Baza Holdings notched the goals  that condemned Herbert Sama’s CRO to the big league and help the 16 time Ugandan Champions rise to 5th on 44 points, above Soana, Bul and Kira Young.

SCVU Resurrects after 2 goals down:

Ingredients of any championship winning side entail playing with passion and lion’s hearts to overcome tricky situations and opponents.

Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) found themselves in such a scenario at  Kavumba Recreational Stadium.

Police football club led the game 2  – 0 by the opening stanza of the game an Osman Mutumba brace. Mutumba’s second goal was as eye catching as fire works in Heaven.

He side stepped SCVU team skipper, Martin Mpuuga before unlashing a powerful shot that goalie, Benjamin Ochan had hoped to be crossed.

Victoria University recovered from the jaws of an eminent loss to make win the game – thanks to strikes from second half substitute, Cesaer Sapeo, an 83th penalty by Denis Iguma and a late winner from Isaac Muleme.

SCVU is now joint second with KCCA  on 52 points though the latter have played a game less. “Its always done to mentality of players to recover from such games”, Morley Byekwaso, SCVU’s head coach told Kawowo Sports after the grueling game marred by heavy rains at Kavumba.

At Nakivubo Stadium, Bright Stars and Entebbe played a 1 all draw. Ismail Kigozi got the Kawempe based side’s goal while U-20 Uganda Hippos’ striker, Abraham Ndugwa scored for Entebbe. The 2 sides are still embroiled in a serious quest to avoid relegation.

Fred Kajoba’s Simba football club returned to Namboole Stadium in a space of 3 days after their goal-less draw with SCVU last Friday, this time with a 1 – 0 win over home side, Kira Young.

Alex Waitaba, arguably Simba’s best player of the season, notched the lone strike for Coach Fred Kajoba’s side over a Kira Young side that rested 5 starting players.

At the Mutesa II stadium in Wankulukuku, Express continued with their great run, bagging all the three points after a hard fought 1 – 0 victory over Masaka Local Council.

Team skipper, Willy Kavuma scored the all important goal for the Red Eagles which drives them completely out of the relegation mathematics as they now boast of 35 points, same as Police though the Cops have a better goal difference.

The league resumes this Friday with several games on card. (Click here for detailed season’s FSL fixtures)
