Match day 30:

Tues, 6th May 2014

KCC Vs SC Villa – Lugogo

SCVU Vs Bright Stars – Namboole Stadium

The 2013/14 FUFA Super league season comes to a close on Tuesday, 6th May 2014 with all the 16 teams involved in action.

After faltering against Kira Young on Sunday during the goal-less draw at Namboole, the defending Champions, Kampala City Council (KCC) will need the three points to clinch their 8th league title as they face 16 time league winners, SC Villa at the KCC stadium.

KCC leads the table standings with 57 points, a point better than second placed Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU), who plays Bright Stars at Namboole Stadium on the same day.

KCC has been the most attack minded side in the league all season round and will bank on the goal scoring prowess of Tonny Odur and Herman Wasswa as flanker; Brian Majwega runs the left wing with the amazing dribbles and crosses.

SC Villa has blown cold and hot on different days. Coach Steven Bogere’s side held KCC in the opening game of the season at Nakivubo but has been a flop on many days.

Perhaps, they have always resurrected to perform where it has mattered most. Villa will rely on the season best form of Ronald Muganga, Titus Lubega, mid season recruit, Victor Emanayo, Karim Ndugwa and the fine backline of Kirabira.

Jogoo’s strong cause to worry about is the goal  keeping department following a string of inconsistent displays from Robert Kalumba and Sulait Luyima, the club’s goalies.

A win for SCVU and any result less than victory for KCC will see SCVU clinch her maiden league honour in the history of the club founded in 2001.

“I have always maintained the league is like a marathon. Now today’s round of games is looked at as the final stretch of the marathon”, SCVU’s coach, Morley Byekwaso told Kawowo Sports.

His counterpart at KCC, George ‘Best’ Nsiimbe has called for patience among his charges as the fixture between the two arch rivals is yet to be played.

“I have told the players to play with caution and patiently. A win is very much possible’, Nsiimbe told Kawowo sports.

Relegation Mathematics:

With Mbale side, CRO and Proline already confirmed as the relegated sides, the third side to go down will be known after Tuesday’s round of games.

3 teams remain engaged in the relegation mathematics. Bright Stars (27 points), Entebbe fc (26) and Masaka L.C (21 with 2 games to play) will all be involved.

SCVU hosts Livingstone Mbabazi’s Bright Stars at Namboole; Entebbe entertains nemesis, Express while Abu Kigenyi’s Masaka Local Council makes the trip to Buikwe stadium to face home side, Vipers.

The feat of the Masaka – Police game (abandoned after 66 minutes with Masaka leading 1 -0) remains a mystery after the league organizing committee has failed to pronounce itself on the matter.
