Victoria Pearls saved their best for the final day of the group games to clinch a place in the final of the Women’s Day Cup on Sunday.

Uganda won the toss and elected to bat first. The poor start for Uganda continued with Namibia picking up two wickets that left Uganda railing at 7/2. Rita Musamali, who has found freedom at number four, together with Captain Janet Mbabazi (25) repaired the innings but the middle order resistance from Stephanie Nampiina (30) and Malisa Ariokot (19) pushed the envelope for Uganda who managed to find 119/7 in their 20 overs.

In the run chase, Namibia exploded on their own with some careless running between the wickets that put them in trouble. Their key batters were all lost due to run out and eventually suffered over four run outs in the game.

Uganda never needed to even engage second gear as Namibia just never showed up and was bundled out for just 45, the lowest total in the series.

Despite the loss, the two sides will meet in the final on Sunday afternoon while Hong Kong China and Nepal with compete in the 3rd and 4th place final.
