Ahead of the first leg AFCON 2015 qualifier against Mauritania, Uganda Cranes resumes training today.
Ever since CAF communicated Mauritania as Uganda’s new opponent in the qualifiers following the disqualification of Equatorial Guinea, Uganda Cranes head coach, Micho has since expressed a change in approach from the planned strategy had had earlier laid.
“We definitely have a new ground plan since Mauritania play a different game from the Latino style of Equatorial Guinea”, Micho stated shortly after CAF had announced the decision.
The team will regroup on Monday after the North East tour of the Nile Special sponsored ‘Uganda Cranes Na – Mutima’ campaign where Cranes won 2 – 0 over the regional team at Soroti Municipal stadium.
Farouq Miya’s stunning effort from distance and a second half Joseph Ochaya penalty won the game for Uganda national team.
The team has two international build up games lined up in a test of preparing the players ahead of Mauritania fixture.
Uganda will play Seychelles this Friday before hosting Malawi two days later on Monday.
Last week, the players had training sessions in the Fittness City gym at Acacia mall (located at Acacia Mall at the Kisementi in Kampala) before playing a training game with a University select side on Wednesday (Uganda won 2 – 0 with Farouq Miya and Iguma’s goals).
The winner of the Uganda – Mauritania clash over the two legs will join Ghana, Togo and Guinea in group E for the qualification to next year’s African Nations Cup in Morocco.
The first leg at Namboole Stadium will be handled by Rwandese referees.
