Maroons Football Club is set to face Police FC in a Uganda Premier League encounter at Prison Grounds, Luzira, on Tuesday.

Maroons come into this match following a narrow 1-0 victory against relegated Mbale Heroes, which helped them end a three-game winless streak.

In a pre-match press conference, Maroons’ assistant coach, Simon Peter Ojok, praised the mental boost experienced by his players, emphasizing that it could be the key to success in today’s match.

“We know it won’t be an easy game for us, especially as the league reaches its final stages,” he said. “This is our second-to-last game, and we are motivated by our recent win over Mbale Heroes.”

He added, “We have seen a mental shift in our players, and we believe they can improve even further. Their game awareness has increased, and we are still working well as a team.”

“We are aware of our opponents and approach this match with respect, hoping to secure a positive result.”

The last encounter between the two teams took place in the Uganda Cup, where Police FC managed a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

In the last five meetings between the two, Maroons have won twice, while Police FC has secured one victory. The two teams have also shared the spoils on two occasions.

As the league approaches its conclusion, every point counts and can significantly impact a team’s standing in the 12-team table.
