Buganda Masaza Cup 2025:

  • Official opening match: Buddu 1-0 Gomba

Buganda Masaza Cup defending champions Buddu edged record-holders Gomba 1-0 in a fiercely contested opening fixture at the Sports Arena in Kitovu, Masaka city.

The lone goal of the match came in the 77th minute courtesy of a stunning long-range strike from midfielder Crispus Sseruwuge.

Sseruwuge’s goal sent the home crowd into a frenzy and sealing Buddu’s place in history as the first team in five years to win the tournament’s opening match.

It was a game played under an electric atmosphere, with fans showing up in overwhelming numbers to witness the showdown between two footballing giants.

Gomba came out strong in the early stages, launching relentless attacks, but Buddu’s goalkeeper Marvin Ssali Ssebirago delivered a string of fine saves to keep his team in contention.

The first half was tightly contested, with Herbert Onen’s organized Gomba defence holding strong against Buddu’s determined advances.

The second half delivered end-to-end action, with both teams displaying high intensity and skill.
