As the 2025-26 Uganda Premier League campaign nears kick-off, teams are working tooth and nail to get ready on time.

UPL side, Lugazi has confirmed it’s second signing after acquiring defender Yusuf Mafabi from Mbarara City.

Mafabi joins the Najjembe side on a two-year employment contract that will keep him at the club until 2027.

The development was confirmed via Lugazi’s official website today, Wednesday, July 16, 2027.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of Yusuf Mafabi from Mbarara City,” the statement partly reads.

The 21-year-old played a crucial role in helping Mbarara City maintain its top-tier status despite a challenging end to the league.

Mafabi previously played for Gombe High School (2020) and Buddo SS (2021) during his school football career. In the league, he has also featured for Arua Hill.

After signing on the dotted line, Mafabi thanked the team management for providing an opportunity to showcase young talent.

“This team has a great management, good technical team and above all, it gives opportunities to the young players to develop their talents. I will work hard to repay their trust and faith in me,” he noted.
