South Africa might be out of the ongoing CHAN 2024 but midfielder Malibongwe Khoza is proud of their performance as a team.
The Bafana Bafana played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against co-hosts Uganda at Mandela National Stadium, a result that saw the latter progress.
Khoza, who plies his trade at Mamelodi Sundowns, believes they had a great show at the tournament but it was disappointing for them to crash out at this stage.
“I’m proud of the performance we put up across the four games we played. It was definitely a tough group but we presented ourselves and the nation well,” he stated.
“We are gutted that our journey ended in the way it ended. Our target against Uganda was for us to score goals because that would help us to win, but unfortunately, we conceded two late goals,” added Khoza.
The 21-year-old midfielder stated that focus will now shift to League action and hopes that the unattached players can get clubs.
“My focus now shifts to the League back home and the other tournaments and I am hoping some of the lads on the team who don’t have clubs can find them soon,” he said.
Khoza was an instrumental player for the Bafana Bafana in all the games they played at CHAN 2024.
He was the man of the match as South Africa played out a one-all draw with Algeria in their first game.
