Coach Brian Ssenyondo started his KCCA FC reign as head coach on a false start after falling to SC Villa in the first round of the quarterfinals of the 2025 FUFA Super 8 tournament.
The tournament comprises eight teams that finished in the top 8 positions of last season’s Uganda Premier League, and serves as a precursor to the new campaign.
Ssenyondo joined KCCA FC in June this year after leaving Kitara FC and this was his first competitive game at the Lugogo-based outfit.
The Jogoos claimed a 2-1 win in the first leg courtesy of goals from Peter Magambo’s own goal and Andrew Otim while Sammy Ssebaduka pulled one back for the Kasasiro Boys.
SC Villa took the lead in the 35th minute when Magambo lost possession at the edge of his box, Hassan Mubiru dribbled into the area and his intended cross was directed into the goal by Magambo at the near post.
Despite attempts by KCCA FC to level matters, including bringing on new signing Ivan Ahimbisibwe, the Jogoos defended resiliently.
Substitute Otim who came in the 75th minute the lead seven minutes later, before Ssebaduka got the consolation for the hosts.
The result means SC Villa join URA FC (beat Kitara FC 2-1) in winning the first round games today. The reverse fixtures will be played next month after the international break.

Action continues tomorrow with reigning Champions BUL FC facing Maroons FC while Express FC will take on NEC FC. Both games will be played at Nakivubo Stadium.
