Uganda Cranes forward Muhammad Shaban has joined Ethiopian outfit Ethiopian Coffee on a one-year deal. The striker was unveiled on Tuesday in Addis Ababa.

Shaban has been without a club since leaving Al Anwar in Libya where he played between February and June this year.

Recently, the finisher had been heavily linked to Gor Mahia and a deal seemed imminent.

Shaban was reportedly promised USD 30,000 (approximately Ksh 4 million) when he signed his contract.

However, he only received USD 10,000 (about Ksh 1.3 million) with the assurance that more would follow. The player was deeply disappointed, describing the situation as a great lie.

He returned to Uganda and attempted to rejoin his former team, KCCA, but the talks did not yield positive results, prompting him to return to the market.

The most recent Ugandan footballer to feature for Ethiopian Coffee is defender Geoffrey Wasswa but has since left the club and joined Fasil Kenema Sport, still in Ethiopia.

In Uganda, Shaban has played for Onduparaka FC, KCCA FC and Vipers SC.
