Express dominate Calvary in a well-deserved 4-0 victory in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Thursday evening.
Calvary suffered a big blow as Emmanuel Ojok replaced Ronald Olado in a forced change under 10 minutes.
Richard Basangwa placed the hosts in the driving seat with a simple tap-in thanks to Peter Onzima’s delivery in the 25th minute.
Calvary’s goalkeeper Hadji Shukuru made a quick run to intercept Kagawa Ssenoga’s delivery that was searching for Basangwa in the 33rd minute.
Two minutes later, goalkeeper Shukuru made a big save after palming away Moses Oloya’s attempt with a chilly effort.
With three minutes to conclude the first stanza, Christopher Agotre put Calvary’s chance to level matters to waste after placing Ibrahim Dada’s delivery above the crossbar.
Express were awarded a penalty in the 48th minute after the ball bounced off Julius Ocen’s hand in the dangerous area.
Ssenoga stepped up to the occasion and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to double Express’ lead early in the second half.
Senoga completed a personal brace in the 55th minute after tapping home from close range thanks to Onzima’s delivery from the right flank.
Once again, Calvary came close but Haron Odongo’s free kick bounced off the lower bottom post as the visitors kept knocking on the door.
Habert Assimwe joined the party as he calmly guided the ball past the goalkeeper into the back of the net in the 76th minute.
The victory moves Express up to seventh place with 12 points from nine games, while Calvary remains at the bottom with only one point after eight games.
