KCCA secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against BUL in the Uganda Premier League encounter at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Sunday.

Sammy Ssebaduka and Alex Yiga scored for KCCA while George Kasonko netted BUL’s lonely strike.

Herbert Achayi’s attempt went slightly above the crossbar in the 22nd minute after KCCA’s set piece was earlier cleared by Walter Ochora.

Nicholas Mwere’s long ball was met by Karim Ndugwa but his effort bounced off the woodwork before KCCA’s goalkeeper Anthony Emojong collected the rebound.

Kasonko broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, the holding midfielder guided the ball into the back of the net from six yards after the visitors failed to clear the ball from the dangerous area.

With five minutes to conclude the first stanza, Emmanuel Anyama missed the chance to level the game from close range after being set up by Hassan Muhamud.

Ssebaduka levelled matters in the 54th minute. Lazaro Bwambale whipped in a teasing ball in the area that was intercepted by goalkeeper Thomas Ikara but the quick-footed forward was in the right place to guide it home.

Yiga’s late strike gave KCCA maximum points on the day. The victory takes KCCA to the top of the log with 20 points in nine games, while BUL lies 11th with 10 points.
