Shamim Bangi was able to skip the qualifying round at the Estonian Badminton International as she found herself into the main draw. The third seeded player on the continent had to wait until Thursday night to know her fate and she will be playing Belgian Flore Vandenhoucke
Bangi will have to overcome the terrible cold Estonian weather in the 2pm tie. “It’s too cold here,” said Bangi’s coach. “We need to warm-up to a long time before we get on court. During training we needed hot water for Bangi to feel the racket.”
“But that won’t stop us, we are determined to give out best and we if can shake off the coldness we should be able to get to the second round and maybe the last eight,” Kabindi added. Vandenhoucke defeated Sale-Liiss from Estonia 2-0 (21-23, 21-12) in her first round match of the qualifiers.
She later saw off Anna Pavavola 2-0 (21-11, 21-18) to join the eight players who joined the main draw from the qualifiers. Incase Bangi goes past Vandenhoucke she will play either Dari Serebriakov from Russia or take on French International Joanna Chaube
