Namuwongo Blazers registered a dominant 99–56 victory over COSPN in the 2026 Road to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) encounter at Hoima City Arena on Thursday.

Fataki Nyembo led the Blazers to a commanding victory, scoring 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the tournament.

Makhtar Gueye added 15 points while Peter Obleng contributed 11 points to help the hosts light up the arena.

For COSPN, Ikenna Kenechukwu led the scoring with 20 points, while Hasina Rasolondrianna pulled down 10 rebounds.

COSPN’s Alpha Solondrainy opened the scoring with a layup before the Blazers responded with a 13–0 run to establish early control.

However, the Blazers were less convincing defensively, allowing COSPN several easy scoring opportunities. The Madagascar side capitalised on the defensive lapses to stay within reach, with the Blazers taking a narrow 20–19 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Namuwongo improved defensively in the second quarter, limiting COSPN’s transition opportunities and reducing their effectiveness from the perimeter. The hosts gradually created some separation, heading into the halftime break with a 43–35 advantage.

The Blazers tightened their grip on the contest after the break, restricting COSPN to just eight points in the third quarter while extending their lead to 71–43.

With a commanding 28-point cushion heading into the final quarter, Namuwongo maintained their dominance as the game turned into one-way traffic.

Nyembo provided the highlight of the closing stages, throwing down back-to-back dunks to the delight of the fans as the Blazers cruised to an emphatic 43-point victory.
