The Cameroon national football team was eliminated at the quarter final stage of the on-going AFCON 2025 tournament by the hosts Morocco.

This followed a heart breaking 0-2 defeat at a fully packed Prince Moulay Abdellaziiz Stadium.

Cameroon talisman Bryan Tetsadong Marceau Mbeumo, 26, has since hailed praise to the people of Cameroon for the passionate support and cheering throughout the tournament.

“Dear Cameroonian people, thank you for the support throughout the competition, your singing, your voice carried us so far despite the elimination. The future will only get better.” He posted on his official Instagram page.

The Manchester United star player also appreciated his entire team for the gallant performance right from the group stages until the quarter final level.

“I am proud of the team, which showed a very beautiful face full of determination and combat. Thanks to the staff, for their work, exchanges and also for listening to us. This is still one of the best experiences as a player that football has given me and also a lot of memories with this welded group.” He added.

In the same vein, Mbeumo commended the hosts of the championship; Morocco.

“Thank you also to Morocco for the atmosphere and the welcome you reserved for us.We will meet again.” The left footed gem signed off.

Cameroon completed group F undefeated with two victories and a draw to finish with 7 points, same as Cote D’Ivoire.

The Indomitable Lions opened up with a 1-0 win over Gabon at the Adrar stadium in Agadir with Etta Eyong the scorer.

They played to a 1-all draw with Cote D’Ivoire in Marrakech before winning again 2-1 over Mozambique to advance to the round of 16 where they faced South Africa.

Cameroon advanced to the quarter finals after winning 2-1 over South Africa before bowing out to the hosts Morocco 0-2.

There have been 119 goals scored so far (an average of 2.48 per match) in 48 matches played so far.

The total attendance of spectators is 1,117,846; an average of 23,288 per match.

The champion will pocket $10,000,000, an increase from $7,000,000 from the 2023 event hosted and won by Cote D’Ivoire.

The semi-finals come this Wednesday (14th January 2026) with Morocco squaring against Nigeria in Rabat and Egypt shall play Senegal in Tangier.

The third-place match will be played on Saturday in Casablanca before Sunday’s grand finale at the magnificent Prince Moulay Abdellaziiz stadium in Rabat city.
