Yassin Waiswa, one of the most promising playmakers in Ugandan rugby, is now a Buffalo.

The former Uganda Under 20 international and Jinja Hippos Rugby Club player who thrives at
flyhalf and fullback, has made the switch to the Buffaloes Rugby Club in Kampala, ahead of the
2026 rugby season, a move that could cement his stay in the senior national team set up.

In an unofficial unveiling post on X from sports photographer Julius Nyerere, Waiswa can be
seen posing in a red Buffaloes RFC jersey, with the post captioned ‘Hot Red!’

Earlier indications had shown that the player was destined for Storm Rugby to link up with old
Hippos mates, but that move seems to have been hijacked by the Kyadondo-based side.

Other reports indicated that a move to the Kenyan Championship side, South Coast Pirates, to link up with former teammate turned Coach, Tony “Polisi” Kadhambi, was on the cards, but that fell through.

A source within the Buffaloes confirmed that the move is now complete, pending straightening out some final details and an official announcement.

What we can not confirm at the moment is whether this is a full transfer or a loan move
designed to see Waiswa play top-tier rugby until Storm Rugby makes the jump.
