Police showed great fight and belief as they secured a third straight Uganda Premier League victory.

Police secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Calvary in the Uganda Premier League effort at Kira Road Police Arena on Wednesday.

Brian Obedi and Umar Kasumba were on target as the Cops bagged maximum points in front of a loud home crowd.

Obedi found the hosts’ first shot on target in the 18th minute but the effort was palmed away into the path of Ikamba Bedia, who was flagged offside.

A nasty collision between Obedi and Junior Emmanuel (Calvary) led to a long pause in the game as they sought medical attention.

The two sides created several chances but neither found the back of the net in the opening stanza of the game.

Obedi broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute after nodding home a brilliant header thanks to Richard Matovu’s perfectly delivered free kick.

Four minutes later, the goalscorer was stretchered off the field of play due to injury and was replaced by Ramsey Jemba.

With a minute to end the day’s action, Kasumba doubled Police’s advantage with an effort from close range. The experienced forward was in the right place to guide home Jemba’s effort that bounced off the goal frame.

The victory takes Police to the log summit with 27 points while Calvary lies at the bottom of the log with only three points.
